Kids Get Fitter, Improve Muscle Tone, and Strength with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Texarkana Jiu Jitsu!
Kids (and adults!) training martial arts, especially Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, get a great aerobic workout. What might surprise you is that it improves muscle tone, coordination, athleticism, and strength too!
Many people associate building muscle strength and tone with lifting weights or doing crunches. Many people are surprised to learn that training martial arts also improves muscle tone and strength!
In a martial arts class, kids learn through repetitive movements.
They create muscle memory. Those repetitions help develop coordination, strength and tone. Boys and girls benefit from having strong muscles.
There’s another element to martial arts I want to talk about…
When kids study martial arts, what they’re learning is that they can leverage their body weight. That’s true whether they’re learning how to strike, wrestle, control, or flip an opponent in competition.
In fact, a small person can win out over a much larger person who doesn’t understand how to leverage their weight in a fight. It’s impressive to watch – and it’s something your child can learn.
Kids and adults with lean muscle mass burn more calories than those with a lot of body fat. Improving muscular strength is a key component of weight loss.
Taking regular Brazilian Jiu Jitsu martial arts classes will help you or your kids get stronger and lose body fat while enjoying all the other benefits of martial arts classes at Texarkana Jiu Jitsu.
These changes don’t just make you or your child look better, you’ll feel better to as you improve your health.
Women (and even girls) may be concerned about lifting weights because they might get too bulky. Training Jiu Jitsu doesn’t build bulky muscles. It will build strong, efficient muscle tone and strength.

Until next time,

PS. We talked about improving strength here. In another blog post, I’m going to tell you about how martial arts helps kids in school.
