Martial Arts That Work In Real Life
Martial Arts, Function Versus Flash.
Often in the media like movies, we see various flashy martial arts movements that look cool and are made to look effective with the actors.
In a real life situation, fights (self defense) or even sport competitions (MMA for example), it’s the basic fundamentals from combat oriented martial arts that work, not the crazy stuff you see in movies.
Combat sports like MMA, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo, Sambo and of course Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are the arts that practice realistic techniques and focus on being able to use them against a resisting opponent.
There is an honesty to Jiu Jitsu.
All the combat sports have it.
You have an active lab on the mat. You can test what works and what does not.
If it fails, you know it. This provides an immediate feedback so you can course correct and continue improving.
In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, we only do what works.
If it doesn’t work, we don’t do it. If we can improve on a technique, we do.
Jiu Jitsu is not locked into a rigid ideology from a thousand years ago. It’s constantly evolving.
In many martial arts this is not be the case.
Texarkana Jiu Jitsu offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for everyone age 4 through adult men and women. No experience necessary and beginners are always welcome.
